Today I showed my 6th grade students the work of Andy Goldsworthy. He is an earthworks artists who creates temporary sculpture using found, natural materials. His work deals with design principals, however, more importantly for my students, ideas regarding planning, patience, and how to accept when you are finished with the work (it being temporary and all). We plan on doing this activity for several classes. Below are some of their first attempts at earthworks sculpture.
