1st Grade Cities

The First Graders are working together to create one large first grade city. We talked about all the important people and places you find in our city.  Last week they made their people out of clay. We used a simple ball and coil method to make the people. This week, they began constructing their buildings to go with their people. Each student received a "piece of property" or a rectangular piece of cardboard. They were told they could build on this property however their buildings could not hang off the edge. The end result were many tall city buildings carefully constructed using boxes and tape. Have a look at stage one of their constructions. Next week, we cover them in paper mache!
